Altitude Outdoor Adventures
First and foremost, here at Altitude Outdoor Adventures, our number one goal is to offer the highest quality hunting experience anyone could ask for. We will do nothing less than go to the ends of the earth to ensure your hunt was the hunt of a lifetime and do everything possible to send you, as a client and a friend, home satisfied and longing for your next hunt with us. We treat every hunt as if it is a once in a lifetime hunt because every hunt is a once in a lifetime hunt.
We are a Western Colorado based outfitter. We specialize in trophy Colorado cougar hunts along with some of the finest trophy Mule deer hunting that Colorado has to offer. We conduct our hunts from elevations starting near 5,500 feet in the subtle valley farm ground to the high mountain vistas reaching near 9,000 feet. This allows us to build the hunt to accommodate any hunter with nearly any physical ability. Altitude Outdoor Adventures strives to accommodate everyone.
Booked hunts will include lodging (varies with time of year and type of hunt booked). Meals will be provided, transportation to and from lodging for duration of the hunt. Arrangements can be made for transportation from Airports in advance and discussed prior to hunt. A comprehensive list will be sent to clients prior to arrival- tags, licenses, firearms and ammunition are not included. It is the responsibility of the hunter to have the education and knowledge to all rules and regulations- Federal, State and all other involved agencies. Guides and their Bio
Christopher Whren
Chris Whren has been hunting the Western Slope of Colorado since he was a small kid with his father. He earned his hunter safety at the earliest age of 12. Since then he has hunted a variety of big game- bull elk, cow elk, buck & doe mule deer, bear, mountain lion and has consistently applied for the mountain goat and big horn sheep throughout the units in the State of Colorado. Those draws are based on a preference point accumulation and are rare. Chris also avidly hunts small game, to include but not limited to turkey, rabbit, coyote & bobcat with over the counter tags.
Chris has been hiking, climbing, and scouting the Western Slope for most of his life, specifically Southwest corner of the state. His knowledge in firearm safety has always been a priority, regardless of how old the carrier’s age. He promotes and abides by man’s law of hunting alongside the law of the land.
AOA Hunts feels it is important to have a healthy respect for regulations and gun safety while having a deep admiration for the great outdoors. Hunting is not only a past time taught from generation to generation, it is a key survival skill in many cultures.
Justin Johnson
Justin Johnson was born and raised in Western Colorado. He spent his childhood hunting and fishing with his family. He is currently in the Colorado Army National Guard as an infantryman. In his spare time he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, dirt biking, and snowmobiling. Justin also has a passion for rodeo, he competes in bareback riding at local rodeos.
Jason Toothaker
Jason Toothaker has been living in rural Colorado since 1979. Being the second youngest of five boys of a single father he was exposed to horsemanship through the great outdoors along with scouting and firearms. He obtained his hunters safety card at the age of 12 and has enjoyed all of Colorado wildlife. He started working for a family friend as a professional guide with Elk Basin Outfitters in 1997 in the West Elk Wilderness. Three years later, his brother bought the business and Jason remained employed with them until 2012. Although Jason grew up hunting all over the state of Colorado, most of his experience remained in the West Elk Wilderness. During his employment with Elk Basin Outfitters they guided big game hunts including deer, elk and bear. In addition to these professional guided hunts he has taught and assisted his children and numerous nieces and nephews in the sport with impeccable firearm safety including black powder, archery and rifle seasons. During the off seasons, Jason continues to hunt other game including mountain lion, small game and fishing.
